A debate “moderator” in the tank for Obama

… On Thursday, PBS anchor Gwen Ifill will serve as moderator for the first and only vice presidential debate…

But there is nothing moderate about where Ifill stands on Barack Obama…

In an imaginary world where liberal journalists are held to the same standards as everyone else, Ifill would be required to make a full disclosure at the start of the debate. She would be required to turn to the cameras and tell the national audience that she has a book coming out on January 20, 2009… “Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.”…

Can you imagine a right-leaning journalist writing a book about the “stunning” McCain campaign and its “bold” path to reform timed for release on Inauguration Day – and then expecting a slot as a moderator for the nation’s sole vice presidential debate?

< sigh >

About par for the course.

In my book, being a government employee she should be immediately disqualified from voting, let along moderating a debate.

…and but me no buts about how “NPR isn’t the government”. It is, and you know it.

Why did the McCain campaign not figure that out before agreeing to her?

    Possibilities:

    1. It was not reasonably possible to detect.
    2. They’re less than competent.
    3. [tinfoil hat]They agreed to a biased moderator as a method of excusing any sub-par performance: if Palin does well, great, if not, it’s the moderator’s fault.[/tinfoil hat]

    My money is on 2.

    And NPR isn’t the government.

My money is this was a “take it or leave it” kind of deal.

By the way, here’s an article from July showing that the fact she was publishing the book was public knowledge.

Still thinking incompetent, but starting to consider “calculating” more seriously.
