I suppose this sort of behavior (dsmvwlng) might come back to bite them; but then, it would probably only do that if BngBng actually mattered

The moderation over there is definitely the site’s worst feature; it’s capricious and unpredictable. Like you, I’ve been disemvoweled simply because I politely said something that someone disagreed with.

I also wonder how far this moderation goes; prior to my disemvoweling, they’d published one or two links that I’d submitted; after it, they haven’t published any of my submissions. Am I being paranoid, or do disemvowelees get put on a black list somewhere? That would be consistent with how personally they seem to take any criticism.

I’ve removed boingboing from my RSS reader because of the moderation policies. Both the disemvoweling and the recent memory-hole incident with Violet Blue strike me as capricious.

They spend a lot of time arguing that they have the “right” do edit however they want; I agree totally, but they also need to understand that their add-clicking readers are interested in a balanced, public discussion.

I’m not interested in reading people’s petty rivalries and self-congratulation. At least not on a blog that’s supposed to be “a directory of wonderful things.”

I’m considering starting bngbng.net, a site wher……… Ha! It’s already been done! Check it out.

Well actually, I was hoping to do something a little different. I’d like to start a boingboing.net where people are free (as in beer on the fourth of July) to comment. It wouldn’t take much effort… hmmm.
