Leftists in libertarian clothing
Globe editorial:
http://www.boston.com/news/local/article…
if you don’t like homosexuals, don’t marry one.
Sounds good to me.
I ask, though, that leftists embrace a few of my similar positions:
- If you don’t like poverty, don’t sit on your ass.
- If you don’t like racial discrimination, don’t racially discriminate.
- If you don’t like “suburban sprawl”, don’t live in the suburbs.
- If you don’t like SUVs, don’t own one.
- If you don’t like fast food restaurants, don’t eat at them.
- If you don’t like guns, don’t carry one. Or two, Or three.
- If you don’t like $4/hour jobs, don’t remain skilless.
- If you don’t like cigarettes, don’t smoke.
- If you don’t like obesity, don’t overeat.
- etc.
This selectively deployed transparent appeal to libertarianism is fair-weather BS.
Leftists hate personal responsibility and individual decision making, and they love weilding the lash of state power.
They just don’t like being on the receiving end of it.
Go pound sand.
