Albuquerque Has Renewal of Attacks on Abortion
A rash of attacks on abortion and family planning clinics has struck Albuquerque this month, the first such violence there in nearly a decade.
Two attacks occurred early Tuesday at two buildings belonging to Planned Parenthood of New Mexico, according to Albuquerque police and fire officials. An arson fire..
The Planned Parenthood of New Mexico spokeswoman, Martha Edmands, condemned the recent attacks…
“It makes me really angry,” Ms. Edmands said. “It’s really upsetting that anyone would attempt to put any kind of doctor out of business.”…
Putting aside the abortion debate, and just using this as an opportunity to critique the “carefully” chosen words of a spokesperson: does it really upset her when any doctor – any doctor – is put out of business?
I think that most of us who are not political flacks can agree that some doctors should be put out of business.
Having agreed on that, we then can dip back into the abortion debate and talk about whether vacuuming the brain of an 8.5 month fetus is more like { injecting pigments into the eyes of slaves | vivisecting POWs with out anesthesia | killing disabled infants | injecting political dissidents with psychoactive drugs }, or more like { setting a broken bone | bypassing a clogged artery | transplanting a heart }.
I, for one, would like some doctors to go out of their current line of business, and take up new employment in, say, setting broken bones, or patching up car crash victims.

A list of dubious “medical” procedures should always include lobotomies.
Another possible abortion analogy is to organ transpants from executed political dissidents.

How about you re-read the quote: “… any kind of doctor …”.
It does not say “any doctor”.

How does adding the phrase “kind of” change the statement significantly? “Doctors that perform operations on unwilling participants” is a kind of doctor. Those types of doctors should be put out of business.
