TJIC gets an early Christmas

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articl…

Police used chemical spray and stun guns Thursday as dozens of protesters seeking to halt the demolition of 4,500 public housing units tried to force their way through an iron gate at City Hall.

Leftists sprayed and shocked?

Public housing torn down?

What’s next? In the fourth paragraph is it going to be revealed that Jennifer Connelly plans on calling me up and asking for a date? Because that’s one of the few ways this story could get any better…

Protesters had planned to disrupt the City Council meeting, where members were expected to approve demolishing dozens of buildings — a move that would open racial and class divisions.

Good thing that no racial and class divisions yet exist

HUD says the redevelopment, in the works before Katrina hit, will mark an end to the city’s failed public housing experiment that lumped the poor into crime-ridden complexes and marooned them outside the life of the rest of the city.

Well, that‘s why leftists are upset: this is a strike at one of their core constituencies: people plunged into an ocean of crime and poverty that’s been created by … the leftists.

I think the last thing you need is the proportion of the people who were expected to use the housing that were actually involved in the protest. I’m assuming that most of the people who were squawking weren’t actually affected by the demolition except in a doctrinal sense, but proper gloating requires confirmation.

I’m sorry. I missed the bow on your christmas present. This was, of course, in New Orleans…
… and most of the former residents of the damaged housing were elsewhere, and had been for the last two years. (Thus, I’m assuming, not protesting, otherwise the media would have grabbed a sound byte from them and not the “housing advocate” and Loyola professor that they did quote).
Merry christmas, good solstice, happy hanuka.
