four words of wisdom

Bolding mine:

[ when watching Battlestar Galactica ] Mr. Gottlieb likes the philosophical puzzles (“Some of the robots think they are human, and some of the humans fear they may be robots”) as well as the way the show switches sympathies back and forth from democracy to dictatorship. He really had only one objection. “There’s lots of romance, though this bores me,” he typed. “Less kissing, more killing is a frequent internal refrain of mine.”

Like Mr. Gottlieb, I tend to be phenomenally uninterested in other people’s makeout sessions.

…and, while I wouldn’t callit a “frequent” internal refrain, I have been known to think / mutter / blog “more killing”.

I think pretty much every show on TV can be improved with the simple phrase “Needs more Axe”.

Unlike your typical nerd, I actually enjoy a well-made relationship comedy or drama. I even enjoy well-done relationship plots within entertainments largely dedicated to other purposes – see “Rescue Me”, or “Burn Notice”. Or the Adama-Roslin interactions on BSG. The Starbuck/Apollo stuff, though, is just awful.

It’s still better than the way almost every TV show must occasionally go out of its way to remind me that All TV Writers Have Daddy Issues.
