victim mentality

Brian points to an example of pure class. Also, note that this firm went out of business not because

  • they gave it a good try, but it wasn’t the right idea at the right place at the right time
  • the economy turned sour
  • their prices were too high

No, the business flopped because would-be customers were too lazy to buy a service they didn’t want at a price-point they didn’t like, and therefore they are deserving of contempt.

I’ll extend “The customer is usually right” to include another phrase:

“The non-customer is always right – you can listen to him and learn something, you can drop f-bombs at him. Your choice.”

This comment on the “feedback” page is awesome:
I have some great concern after reading your comments on the Web page on 10/19/2009. You were at Bradford City Council asking for money to open your business. That money came from city taxpayers, and state taxpayers. You were there with your hand out, just like the next guy, to have your business subsidized. And then you systematically alienated all the potential customers you had with nastiness, bad attitudes, constant complaining in person and on the Internet and your just plain low class attitudes. How dare you! Anyone in Bradford who ever supported you should be ashamed. You should have been seeking answers as to why people went elsewhere instead of posting such a rude and hateful message on your site. I hope where ever you go in life, your hatefulness and negativity bring you the kind of life you deserve.
“The Coolest and Classiest place in Bradford”.

Yes. So classy. And so cool for your well written farewell.

I dont want to try to fix their business after the fact but looking that their menu
    http://www.emeryespresso.com/menu.pdf

the Emery Espresso Bar & Marca De La Paz Mexican Grill is
    1. all over the place without a clear culinary focus
    2. probably not competing with Tim Hortons or McDonald

Sure you have old guys hanging around Hortons all morning, but the business revenue is mostly people in and out and who didnt get dressed up for the morning school run and dont really want to met people out on the town.

According to my coffee snob (in a good way) sister, Tim Horton’s is the be all, end all of restaurant coffee.

    LLOL!!

I’m still chuckling after reading Brian’s post.

I’ve had the misfortune of visiting Bradford PA – there’s something WRONG with the people living there. The nice goodbye note could have been written by any other Bradford resident; everyone I’ve interacted with there had that kind of mentality.

That McDonalds in Bradford is a freaky place – my brother said he thought he’d wandered into a David Lynch movie set when he stopped there (an old guy in a powder blue suit was dancing around in the aisles among other oddities).

The place has to be seen to be believed – make sure you have all your shots first.

I wonder if the proprietor was wearing his trucker hat when he was asking the City Council for money.
