Fracking leftists

A visit to an Ikea warehouse brings home what progressives like, and libertarians hate, about Scandinavia: it’s the Kingdom of Lagom, where everyone has exactly the same, perfectly adequate, stuff.
Damn leftists.

You can think of Ikea as a demonstration that leftists can still live in LeftWorld even after libertarians have taken over.
Besides, everybody should know that Ikea designed Saturn.

I thought you meant the car company. Lots of plastic laminate those too.

That should be an excellent point – libertarians don’t mind if everyone has the same, perfectly adequate stuff. They only hate it when everyone is forced to have the same, perfectly adequate stuff.
Except that Joseph ever-so-slightly misses the point. Because leftists would not be happy unless everyone were forced to have the same, perfectly adequate stuff. And thus we’re back to leftists and libertarians being fundamentally incompatible – just as liberty is fundamentally incompatible with any kind of tyranny.

Great link to the mirror, btw. Never seen that before.

MM is sooo right about this. I can’t understand the fascination with IKEA furniture, it is built for 5/8th size people. I don’t know where such people live, but not in the States.

The people in the Afghan mountains are about 5’5″ and weigh 120 – 150. They could probably use inexpensive and easy to replace furnishings. They just need air drop delivery.

With what Ikea charges to ship, you would expect that you’d get it same-day, air-dropped to your front yard (or other co-ordinates of your choice).
Kids twin bed, flatpack, Cincinnati to Indianapolis? $400. No next day, no expedited, just plain old UPS.
Er, no.

I was suggesting a new paradigm for their business. But maybe the Air Force can handle it. First send in tomahawk missiles, then C-130s to carpet bomb with Ikea furniture. Kinda of a welcome to the “new” neighborhood .
