“It’s unfortunate that it was as many rounds as it was, but he fired until the dog ceased to attack,” Hughes said.

That’s defending a cop shooting a dog in a house for which he did not have a warrant, discussing how the cop – and I’m quoting from the police report here – “shot [ the dog ] six times … then shot the dog approximately … six more times …then shot the dog one more time directly in the top of his head from only a few inches away”.

Why did the cop shoot the dog ?

The dog was trained to enter the kitchen when the basement door was opened.

The cop opened the basement door.

The dog entered the kitchen.

So the cop shot it 13 times.

“The dog was coming after the officer and he was in fear for his life and the lives of the other officers,” Hughes said.

“It’s unfortunate that it was as many rounds as it was, but he fired until the dog ceased to attack,” Hughes said.

That explains shots 9 through 13, because if you shoot a 7 month old puppy that wants to go outside to pee just 8 times, it’s still deadly.

Here in Cincinnati, it took two big and burly police officers to gun down a five pound Chihuahua sitting on its own front porch in an upscale neighborhood. I guess the police have learned that while people can shoot back, dogs can’t.

Radley Balko of The Agitator fame frequently reports on the police’s need to shoot dogs.

I’ve heard stories of people being turned away from the police force for being too smart, too dumb, poor marksmen, and/or psychologically unbalanced. When are they going to start turning away cowardly nancys that “fear for their lives” in the presence of puppies? Because if you’re afraid of a puppy to the extent you need to not only shoot it, but reload and shoot it some more, I’d hate to think what shriveling pile you would be when things got really stressful.

How can an armed officer (or indeed any adult) reasonably fear a Chihuahua?
