a new department at Harvard

Between all the cost cutting that’s going on at Harvard in response to the collapse of the endowment, there’s this:

It took decades and, at times, antagonistic battles, but Harvard’s gay community says it has finally cemented its academic legitimacy at the nation’s oldest university. College officials will announce today that they will establish an endowed chair in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender studies, in what is believed to be the first professorship of its kind in the country.

And so the process of enshrining everything that the Left holds dear with an academic department or chair continues apace.

My problem with most of these departments and chairs is that the topics are so boring and little actual study gets done – most of it is identity politics.

“Women studies”?

What new insights have ever come out of a womens studies department? I mean, besides “women are great and men are bad” ?

And, as at other universities with similarly vacuous programs, I’m sure the cost of funding this silliness will be added to everyone’s tuition.

Well, feminist legal studies also teaches the importance of censorship:

    Law adds value.

    Gay > Straight
    Brown > White
    Marx > Friedman

What do these have to do with women, you ask? I don’t know, but women’s studies departments sure pen a lot of words about them.
