amusing

A blog by the father of three boys:

Eight year-old Caleb is learning about genetics. One of the questions his workbook asks is for him to identify the dominant genes in his family. His answer:

“Brown eyes and weiners.”

LOL!

In a similar vein: my Christmas cards went out recently. Law partner received one. His young son asks “why are the kids Chinese and the parents white? Law partner explains they were adopted. “Don’t you think they look like Mr. Ken, though?” He asks. His son squints. “Well, maybe the chubby one.”

    Heh.

Speaking of adoption, my lead engineer is out of the office today getting shots for his trip to Taiwan next week to pick up his new son Tai. Exciting times!

I am curious as to why the word ‘wiener’ is so often misspelled. There are even published books with ‘weiner’ in the title. No doubt the 4 levels of fact checkers never heard of Wien.

Is the error so common we now have a new word? Google thinks so, but my Firefox spell checker thinks not. I agree with the spell checker at least because Weiner is also a proper word, being a not uncommon surname.
